ACTION-PACKED WEEKEND OF FEMALE HOCKEY IN NL

It's going to be a busy weekend for female hockey in the province as eight tournaments are being played around the island from April 1st-3rd. These tournaments include the female U15 and U18 Provincial Championships, as well as six Steele Hotel Female Provincial Championships in the U11 and U13 divisions.

Both the U15 and U18 AAA Female Provincial Championships start Friday, April 1st. The U15 Championship will be held at the Harry Ivany Arena in Botwood, NL. The tournament consists of four teams from around the province, that are represented by the best 14 -15 year old players the island has to offer. Teams participating in the tournament this year are host Central Ice Pak, Tri Pen Ice, Western Warriors and Eastern Ice Breakers. The U18 Championship will be played at the Corner Brook Civic Centre. The tournament consists of five teams from around the province, represented by the best 16 - 18 year old players on the island. Teams participating in the tournament this year are host Western Warriors, Central Ice Pak, Tri Pen Ice, Northern Huskies, and Eastern Ice Breakers.

The Steele Hotel Female Provincial Championships will take place in six different locations with a total of thirty eight teams, each competing to take home gold in their respective tournaments. Gander, Marystown, Bonavista, Port Aux Basques, Twillingate and Black Duck Brook will play host to these teams.

Roughly 750 female players will be competing this weekend throughout the province in the exciting return to female hockey provincials for the first time since 2019.
